Incheon Center for Creative Economy and Innovation Supports Global Investment Attraction Through ‘Big Wave Global’
The 7 Selected Companies Consist of Sectors with High Technological Synergy with the Chinese Market
The Incheon Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (Incheon CCIE) actively supported Korean tech startups in entering the Chinese market and attracting global investment through its recently held '2025 Big Wave Global' program in Shanghai. This project marks the first joint follow-up initiative driven by a three-party collaboration among Incheon CCIE, EIV (E-Land Innovation Vale), and KIC China, following a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed in March.
According to Incheon CCIE, seven final companies were selected from a nationwide pool through rigorous document and presentation evaluations. These enterprises operate in sectors with high technological synergy with the Chinese market, including artificial intelligence medical technology, radiation therapy enhancers, biomaterials, immersive digital content, and advanced molecular diagnostics represented by XenoHelix.
During the preliminary phase, the cohort received comprehensive foundational support, including corporate diagnostics, Chinese translation and review of IR materials and teasers, market analysis, and advance matching with local partners. The local program in Shanghai commenced with immersive field studies of China’s industrial ecosystem and culminated in highly targeted investment IR sessions. The participants visited leading Chinese manufacturing and technology hubs, including COMAC and CATL, to assess market trends. They also toured multi-cultural commercial complexes tailored to lifestyle, senior, and IP-content trends, such as Parkson Newcore, Bailian AgeClub, and ZX, to analyze shifting consumer market structures.
Furthermore, expert seminars covering Chinese corporate laws, regulatory compliance, successful case studies of Korean enterprises, and localized market strategies enabled the startups to refine their operational blueprints. The marquee global investment IR session took place at EIV Shanghai. The selected startups pitched their technological capabilities, market viability, and cross-border expansion roadmaps in Chinese, sparking in-depth Q&A sessions with prominent local venture capitalists and industrial partners. This was followed by intensive 1-on-1 business matching sessions to solidify concrete local collaboration models. EIV, the Chinese corporate entity of E-Land Group, leverages over 30 years of extensive industrial, retail, and investment networks in China to facilitate smooth administrative and networking logistics for Korean firms through its Korea-China Business Center.
Co-organizer KIC China, an agency under South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT established in Beijing in June 2016, is a non-profit government institution dedicated to fostering bilateral tech cooperation and market penetration for Korean science and tech startups.
In addition to the IR sessions, Incheon CCIE hosted a Technology Exchange Forum at Fudan University in Shanghai. The forum centered on fostering joint research, academy-industry partnerships, and pilot testing opportunities tailored to each startup's core technologies. Faculty and researchers from Fudan University expressed exceptional interest in the clinical and commercial potential of the Korean startups, leading to active follow-up discussions for joint projects and deeper integration into China's research-industrial ecosystem.
"This edition of Big Wave Global in China has evolved beyond a simple overseas IR roadshow; it has established itself as an authentic global entry platform that directly connects the industrial, investment, and academic ecosystems of China," said Jae-Sun Lee, President of Incheon CCIE. "Moving forward, we will expand our strategic alliances with EIV and KIC China to aggressively fuel the global scale-up of promising Korean startups."
Through this successful Shanghai project, Incheon CCIE has fortified a robust, multi-dimensional infrastructure spanning China’s corporate and academic networks. Moving forward, the center plans to expand the 'Big Wave Global' brand beyond China to encompass major strategic hubs across Asia, ensuring continuous global acceleration for domestic innovators.
The 2025 Big Wave Global (China) cohort comprised seven pioneering companies: NearBrain, OsteobionicS, VS PharmTech, XenoHelix, Beyond Medicine, Millennial Works, and JCHI Global, all of which are actively exploring strategic partnerships and commercial channels within the Chinese market.
